Brief critique of the film - it wasn't bad and at least "The Reaping" had a plotline which made some kind of sense.

The stars are good in their parts and the movie, though not gore-filled does have some decent action sequences, mostly at the end.

The plagues are nicely done and the story itself is kind of a cross between "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Omen", though I preferred both films to this one.

"The Reaping" was an ok flick and I should mention the writers are already setting us up for a sequel.

I'm not sure if I'll bother to go or not. Depends on what else is playing against it at the time.

Moderators, forgive me if I duplicate but I didn't see the thread for the movie anywhere.

I think thats a good & accurate review. I too liked Rosemary's Baby and The Omen much better than this flick. I would even take the Skeleton Key over this flick. I think the acting was just fine but the story was a little weak and its execution was predictable. The movie was really slow most of the time and then they tried to cram everything into the ending; and nothing was really all that surprising. I won't go the sequel that they set us up for, but I'm sure I'll rent it.

Thanks.

I'm surprised I didn't get more feedback on the movie though.

How much are the plagues related to the actual biblical plagues in Exodus?

They did the whole thing. Even death of the first born - but that didn't come until the end of the picture when it all began to make sense.

Maybe folks aren't interested in this flick because there's not a whole lot of blood, gore, sex, action...you know, the stuff that sells. We've talked about this on other threads. Certain things really sell modern horror.

There is a girl that follows me
where ever i go i see her face
is hidden in the shadows.
she watches me. she waits for me.
I can not eat nor sleep
for her eyes burn little holes
inside my soul
i keep
the precious hatred
the boundless suffering.
give me this day
i promise
no more
i see her face.

Yes, that's what I'm going to do with several new ones.

Movies are so expensive now and for me, it's hard to find the time to go so I like to save my money for something I really want to see.

The Reaping did look good and at least I wasn't disappointed.

I'm glad Sineater wrote a review for this. Now I will be able to save my time and money. Looks like a good movie to skip, imo. wink.gif

thanks Sin!

I haven't seen this one yet and really I didn't go to the theaters for it because the critic's reviews screamed dvd at me, even though I adore Hilary Swank (Boys Don't Cry)!!! I will hopefully have it pulled for me by Tuesday when it is released on dvd. I will set my expectations appropriately now that I have read your review.

I haven't seen Freedom Writers yet but it is on my list and I do have the movie. I also haven't seen Iron Jawed Angels and have that one so I guess I gotta have a crazy for Hilary night and watch them both. I will always adore her for her performance in Boys Don't Cry though! She really broke my heart in that movie and I found her performance to be flawless.
