(ORIGINAL POST BELOW CONTACT and OUTTAKES)

CONTACT:

You can always find me or check out my future projects here:

OUTTAKES (EVICTED SCENES POST):
STAY outtakes reel is available here as 20mb Quicktime movie:

http://mythopolis.com/movies/Stay/Stay-outtakes.mov

The outtakes reel contains:

1) Grisly remains of the trespasser. Cut because I wasn't sure if it was too graphic for contest and I didn't think it was necessary.

2) I get spooked when at the house at night by myself. My brother makes an unexpected visit and decides to spook me by make scratching noises downstairs. It works... but ever the filmmaker, I rolled tape... sort of.

3) Phone conversation bloopers and driving (shot by my 12-year-old niece.) Warning - naughty language, frustrated actor/director.

Put the "remains" shot up front on the reel so you don't have to sit through the rest to see it.

***********

ORIGINAL STAY INTRO POST:

Hello Chiller fans - I've just uploaded my entry to the Chiller Dare to Direct contest. It is a short film called STAY.

Entire Chiller movie STAY here:
http://www.chillertv.com/Dare_To_Direct/Vi...ery/30903.shtml

Here's a link to the Quicktime trailer page for STAY:
http://Mythopolis.com/movies/Stay

Or the YouTube Trailer link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5e9PwxN4ZA

STAY - An amatuer photographer spends the day exploring an "old spooky house in the middle of nowhere" all the while promising his family that he won't stay there much longer. One room in the old house holds a peculiar fascination for the trespasser and soon day turns to night...

Hope you dig it!

BTW, if you have a film and you want me to check it out, post here and I will watch it and post comments on your movie page. Thanks.

Hey boo... STAY had only one official principle day of shooting since I was basically given permission for a specific day (with only a couple days notice) and was told the house was about to be torn down. I used test footage and still photos that I'd shot from a couple of visits in the past though.

Post production took about a total of 2 weeks for me to do all the editing, sound design and special effect shots. The last shot in the film tied up the computer for 40 hours of rendering (at HD quality.)

Boo- It sure feels like it took longer to me too. I guess I'm thinking two weeks worth of editing (meaning 14 days at 12-16 hours a day for me) spread over time. Could actually be more - I can get a little lost in editing! The actual shoot felt slightly disasterous and I wasn't sure I'd even captured enough footage to tell the story. So it was in limbo for awhile. I didn't even want to look at the footage when shooting was finished. But luckily, I was able to piece it together in the end.

The contest was motivation to finish it... otherwise I don't know if it would have ever been completed. But I'm actually satisfied with it now and glad I did it.

Thanks Georgiahoosier! Most of the film was actually shot with a lower-end consumer HDV camera, while the time-lapses were shot with a digital still cam. 99% of the lighting provided by Mother Nature. The location really did the rest.

Music to my ears! I always loved those "bad transmission" sounds, like in ALIEN (the last recording of the doomed ship) or those odd staticy sequences in PRINCE OF DARKNESS.

Hey, thanks for checking out the trailer Ziggy...

I viewed your trailer for you movie "Stay".

Your camerawork and special effects are of professional quality.

Your character found some old coins in the house...lucky!

Where I live out here in the Mohave desert, there are a lot of old abandoned houses, gas stations, train depots, motels, etc...

I have sometimes wondered just what it is like to get inside of some of these old buildings...

I'm sure we will stary in Iraq as long as our economy needs it...

...which might be forever, or pretty darn close...

Thanks Eric... Ya, unfortunately you're right - the Iraq situation is probably here to stay for awhile. I was originally looking for a news byte to fit a radio broadcast into the beginning of the film. Something somewhat relevant to the story, like property rates or taxes or something like that. LOL. Found the Bush quote refering to the idea that increasing troops "would suggest that we intend to stay forever." Too poignant to let go. I don't use the original recording in the film though - per contest rules.

I am so jealous of your locale with all those rustic gems! I can't believe you haven't explored any of those. Well, I guess more than anything that's what my film is... a little trip inside one of those old abandoned houses. Bring ZOMBIE SLAYER along.

Your film look is awesome!
I love the tone, the light rays, the shadding, its all Super Super good.
There was just one turn off to me. Don't take this in a bad way though, other than that, the film looks hot. but... what bothered me (and probably wont bother others) is the frame rate.

Awesome job again!
Can't wait to see your film biggrin.gif

Richard - You 24P/film elitist! tongue.gif

Ya, guilty as charged. Hey man, a $20 budget and a consumer camcorder ... ya one chip cam to boot. That dreaded one chip... argh. Some of us can't afford much else. Besides... I've been penny pinching and saving up for the RED camera! laugh.gif

But, seriously, thanks for checking it out and your comments... I've got a feeling your film has got some serious polish (shine, not country) and mad skills behind it.

That was all on a 1chip?
w0w
More props to you then!!!
You got a serious eye. Get your hands on your good camera and youll be unstopable.

I hope my film opens up new doors biggrin.gif

Ive written and shot all sorts of films in the past and I have a good film history. I started as an actor for a few years, did some commercials and some movies (nothing too big) then i stidied multi media, then some 3d modeling classes along with special effects, then got into writing and directing biggrin.gif so I got a little bit of everything under my belt. But you seriously got an eye! Just by seeing your trailer im sure you got a pretty nice background yourself biggrin.gif

keep up the good work!

What kind of camera are you using for this? I know you said it was a consumer grade HD and I meant to ask you the other day about it.
It still looks great, and I know the trouble of "single chipping" since I'm using a "poor man's XL" (original Optura) but I just have to go get some more work lights! biggrin.gif

Hey, maybe a horror movie about a single CCD camera that has an insatiable thirst for light....no, that's just called every day shooting
