Hey Everyone,

I submitted my short "Grandmas Gift" on Friday evening.
(A tale of a newlywed couple that moves into Grandma's old house that is plagued with bloody memories. They discover that the past is not what they thought it was and are soon confronted head-on with the evil that resides there.)

Question? Anyone know how to attach pics to my post without going the URL route? I've never done this before. I want to post some Production stills. Thanks.

I had a great time with this project. It has been a while since I have taken the reins on a project from start to finish. I Wrote, Produced, Directed, Photographed and did all the post work on it. But of course it couldn't have happened without my cast and crew. Most of my cost was feeding the crew. It was the least I could do. I already own most of the equipment used on this shoot so fortunately I didn't have to spend much money in that department. I shot the short with a Canon XL-2 shooting at 24 FPS. I really like that look. I used a Senheiser ME-67 shotgun Mic with boom pole for sound. For lighting I had a Lowel DP lighting kit (3 tungsten lights- (1) 500watt - (2) 1Ks) and I also used (2) 250watt photo flood lights. I color corrected the tungsten lighting for the night scenes. I used homemade bounce boards that really came in handy. I used a small jib to get the camera smoothly in the air for a couple shots. I also had a handfull of sandbags so nothing could get knocked over.
I grew up with a video camera in my hand, always making little home movies. I'm on my eighth camera now!

I would say this short cost me around $500-600 to produce. Like I said, most of it was food and drink. It took about five days to shoot. Two of the days were twelve hour days. The most crew I ever had in one day was five....including myself. The cast consists of three people and two dogs (the dogs were great sports). Oh yah....so were the humans.

I had to cut a few shots out of my film due to the graphic violence. I heard about the TV-14 rating that Chiller upholds and decided to be on the safe side and cut some stuff out. One involved a great practical effect that just showed too much. It all worked out though and nothing looks like it is missing...fortunately I had shot some alternate footage.

I can't wait to see the other submissions! This will be fun.
