Dan here. My film is called Rita, made in two weeks of pure, frantic commotion. I look forward to learning from the rest of you through our discussions. I'll be looking for the best out there, and will be voting on that. The only annoyance I have for competitions is that they can become popularity contests rather than true talent contests. I've already seen a few trailers that get me sweating, and I can't wait till tomorrow to see where we all stand. With sincerity, May the best film win.

That poster pic of yours is still about the creepiest thing I have ever seen, it takes a moment to completely get it, and then it creeps you out all over again
Good job!!

Thanks. Most people see it and ask if Rita is a Pumpkinhead rip off. NOOOOO!!!
Though I must say, one of my actors do look like a young Lance Henrikson who got punched in the face. What ever happened to that guy? From Pumpkinhead to a Pirates of the Carribean rip off.

P.S. Lovin the glowing dog eyes!

You want an odd Lance Henrikson appearance? He was in Atlanta in the late 1970s shooting a movie called "The Visitor" with such names as Glenn Ford, Shelley Winters, Mel Ferrer, and John Huston
Possibly the worst movie on the planet.
But it's so bad it's worth seeking out, particularly if you are a Henrikson fan just to see him as the romantic leading man!!

And Merlin appreciates people noticing his glowing eyes, they get something of a workout in the movie!

The compression on my film makes it look like a slideshow rather than a movie. But I'm done being negative about this. Can anyone tell me how much they feel it detracts from the story and effects? As of now all work I put into the lint artifacts and images blurring within themselves is lost since you would need to see at least a few frames in a row.

Wow, your movie was good. And it was truly creepy. A definite success.

I absolutely loved this film Dan. RITA is an incredibly amazing work. It's just... well, I don't think there is anything I can say that would do it justice. It's just brilliant. I'm looking forward to seeing RITA full screen on Halloween.

Thanks TK, I appreciate your support. I think I'll refer to you as the big brother figure of the chiller TV discussion board. I'll have my mother vote 5's on Stay for compensation by the way...

I think I can speak for us all when I say: YEEEEEIKES!!!!

Wow, what a great, great little film. The first one that made me COVER MY EYES. You have a really wonderful grasp of how to use images, and how to manipulate very simple images into something truly horrifying.

Really, really great.

I know I already said this in the comments section for the movie, but one of the standout things about "Rita" was your more than capable direction. Anyone can shoot scenes, but it takes someone with a special eye to make the viewer feel like part of the action, that's exactly what you caught.

I had a feeling it would live up to that creepy poster!!

Thank you everyone, for the kind words, and great conversation. I'm getting around to each movie leaving comments, or check your email, I send there too.
Thanks to a friendly and supportive welcome party who just so happen to be terrific directors:
including but not limited to:

TK- Stay
Neil- Nice Doggy
Loney Childress- The Red Wraith
Mark Harris- Bloody Mary
Chris Combs- Hit and Run
I've noticed these people from the week I created a topic, and appreciate their contributions to the boards positive spirit. I know there are others, but these happen to be those that pop into mind while I reflect, I apologize to those neglected by the list.... If I had the time, I would scan sketches of how I imagine each of you look like nested in tattered quilts behind your monitors....

In addition to appreciating your very kind words, I have to point once again to your mastery of imagery! tattered quilts, very Dickensian, that's great!
No wonder your movie was so engrossing.
Put me on a mailing list for the next one!

Today is my Birthday. A quarter of a century ago, my father delivered me from my mother on their bed. The bed cover was red and green with prints of exotic flowers, parrots and lemurs. So here I am. Just so you can't say we never got close....
Sincerely,
Dan McClure

P.S.
Share an interesting story.

Happy Birthday Dan!

My story: When I was about 3 years ago, my parents left me with my Uncle for the night so they could go out to the movies. When they came back late that night, my Uncle was asleep on the couch... I was sitting in front of a static screen (the station had signed off) and I was rocking back and forth while staring at the staticy screen... moaning! (This was before Poltergeist was released.)

I think I just told you guys too much.

Well...

Happy Birthday from us at El Cheapo Productions...

We just had a chance to watch and stopped in to offer up kudo's!

The stylistic camerawork and storytelling really pull over the creepfactor....

We were glued to the screen all the way through!
