The Pilot:
War is brewing between rivals gangs in San Francisco and Detective Frank Kohanek is determined to put crime boss Julian Luna behind bars. When his lover is killed after revealing to him, the secrets of the Kindred, Kohanek realises there is more at stake. Thanks, Buhbuh for starting this and for your hard work on the ep summaries.
I'm alredy a big fan of the show. Hopefully, other fans will crawl over here for an episode by episode discussion. I'll be waiting for all the nice members to show up. |

I like this one a good bit myself, as well.
Funny, because as I remember the original airings I was not that into it. I think I was in night school so much that I had a hard time catching up the the mythos behind the plot and it made little sense to me when I did watch it. But now that I've seen it on a more regular basis I've been drawn in, and I recently found out that it was only cancelled because the guy that plays Julien Luna was killed in a car accident while on break from filming! Love this show ... its such a shame that Mark Frankel (Julian Luna) died after the filming of this.

It started January 11th, 1 new episode every Friday night. I don't remember if they did the kindred weekend marathon yet. They have been running 3 or 4 episode of one the series each weekend that you can catch up. Reason for edit: hmmm, it does not look like the 1st four though. It is episode #3,4,5,6 and the one airing friday 2/22 is ep#7

I really love the potential of this series, it's just a victim of the times. I don't think people were ready for a vamp series like this one. I honestly, thought C Thomas Howell had a really funky accent that was really distracting. I'm almost tempted to say he was really miscast for the role. He looks the part but he's the only one in the group I felt wasn't as strong. Grant it, his character is interesting enough.
I really like how all the clans have their own distinctive abilities. I wish they could remake this series but with a bit more of an edge. Blade the series was probably the closest as far as being a bit more action mixed with an urban/noir feel to it. I appreciate the Pilot for what the series could have become and I feel it was doing better as a story closer towards the end. --------------------  |
