I enjoyed the trilogy and I wonder if they'll be a fourth. Neve Campbell hasn't done much lately so it's a possiblity, I guess.

But whether there's a new film or not, I'm a big fan of the Scream movies, number one being my favorite because it was something different.

Loved the first one, the second and third were okay. Liked all the horror film jokes. Do not think they will make a fourth since the third closed up most of the storylines.

It's possible. I dunno if Neve will be in it if they do though, with the exception of a cameo similar to Brooke in Final Destination 2.

If they do- and I hope they read this: Keep Busta Rhymes OUTTA the movie! Darn Halloween Resurrection....

I have read rumors that a 4th one could be in the making, with the Arquettes as the stars. As much as I loved Deputy Dewey, I don't think he and Gale Weathers can carry the entire story.

According to sources through
Moviehole the lovely Neve Campbell will not be in the next Scream movie...
Apparently the one-time rising queen of scream was in talks with the Weinstein co. to give her lungs another work-out for a third sequel? She may have had the talks, but she won't be returning, we can confirm today. Nope, Sidney's done with masked men. Don't despair though. Just because Campbell won't be back doesn't doesn't mean that two of her hot-water bottle sharing co-stars won't be back, namely, the Arquettes.

Don't despair? Scream without the character it is all based on just reeks of trying to keep the franchise alive. It's been done before, trying to pass the story onto other characters in the series and it's drastically gone downhill, but can Scream change that? It's often had scripts that are much more clever, witty and sartirical than other stories in the same vein. Difficult one to call, but it's a strong suggestion she won't with one movie in post-production, one filming and four in pre-production she is quite busy!

She was the only character that really held it together for me, I think they killed the other one off. If they got rid of the main character then it would most likely be horrible unless they can pull something great out of their hats, which I highly doubt.

Back when Scream 3 was being released I read an interview with Wes Craven. He said that he and Kevin Williamson (screenwriter) discussed doing three movies, but not four. That was why all loose ends were tied up in Scream 3.

The series is good the way it is. Another sequel may just mess up everything. Most of the characters are dead now anyway.

Kevin Williamson didn't write Scream 3, however; Ehren Kruger (writer of Arlington Road, The Skeleton Key, and The Brothers Grimm) did.

Isn't the only reason Neve Cambell did the 3rd one was because she had a contract, and she didn't really want to do it?

Wiki says
QUOTE
Neve Campbell made a deal which stated that she could have been on set just for 20 days, which is also why she isn't as predominant a character as she is in the other films.

In early 2006 there were rumors that suggested a Scream 4 was going to be taking place, but director Wes Craven killed the rumors by simply sayings he's "done with the Scream trilogies." Since then rumors have still suggested that a Scream 4 will be taking place.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Ghost Face killer again in a different story, with no relation to the Scream movies besides for the mask and the crafty killings.

I could enjoy a 4th movie without Neve or any of the principles provided it was well done, original and scared the poop right out of me!

I love Scream and Wes Craven, but I was really hurt when they killed Randy off. His character was so interesting and he never got to love Sidney wacko.gif

I've never seen Robot Chicken. I never really watch cartoon network anymore except for Family Guy and Futurama. I'll check it out.

Spoiler warning for whoever hasn't seen Scream 2 :

Just bumping this up because I'm a big fan of the movies, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the third.

It seemed a bit too contrived for my taste.

One and two were fantastic, though.

I loved Mama being the mastermind behind the killings in 2. Reminded me of another mother once upon a time who took it upon herself to avenge her son.

I believe his name was Jason and...............

Ghost Face: 'You know you'll Never Get the Girl!'

Randy: '$#*# YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!' tongue.gif

Best lines from those movies.

That would be my Mommy. laugh.gif

Anyways, I loved the Scream Trilogy for what they were, Horror Spoofs. They weren't slapstick in the form of say a Scary Movie or Student Bodies, but they were always conceived by the creators as a way to Poke Fun at the entire Slasher Genre, from the Film Creators to the Fans, so that we the Fanboys/girls could get all the 'inside jokes'. To this day, many people can't understand why I was laughing throughout the films when I watched them in the theaters, when the rest of them were cringing behind there seats.

You can't do another one without Sidney. In fact, the only way one could possibly do a 4th, would be if you came full circle and made Sidney the killer. After all, she's out of boyfriends/relatives to go ape$#!+ and kill everyone else she knows. Besides, as everyone knows, insanity runs in the family. wink.gif

Yeah, my kid didn't get the in jokes, of course, but I thought they were a hoot.

I think you could do one without Neve Campbell if you wait long enough and center it around Syd's daughter.....

Well, it could work. wink.gif

Hmmm, interesting. But I always thought that Syd was going Celebate ever since Billy's Mom popped Jerry O'Connel in Part 2.

Yes, MB, but how many young people (or older people for that matter) totally reject something that has traumatized them only to embrace it later on?

Inotherwords, Syd may have said one thing but eventually ended up doing another.

Either way, I think it would be interesting to check back with Syd today and see what she was up to.

It would also be interesting to see just how many ghost faces really did survive their Syd encounters and ended up in institutions for the criminally insane. Where they could possibly escape and.... well it could work. wink.gif
Momma's Boy
It's an interesting premise, I have to give you that.

But I have to say IMHO, I always found the fact that Syd was such a traumatized and tortured girl to begin with, is what really gave her such an appeal. After all, how many people in a Horror Series have a happy ending? huh.gif

Not to mention, you'll have QUITE a few 'Armchair Critics' who will inevitably say it's just an H20 rip-off.

But eh, what do they know right? wink.gif Besides, we can always send Jay and Silent Bob after 'em! tongue.gif
sineater
I wonder how many of my Armchair Criticis would actualy go and see it.

I know the goth kids would, probably most of the 30 somethings, too.

Hmm, MB, you really think they'd be comparing it to Halloween?

Answer me when you can because I know they're working you like mad right now.

Either way, I'll catch you here soon or in...... another place........

Camp Crystal Lake, isn't it?

I just watched the third one again on tv. I really don't like it that much, and the disappointment from seeing it in the theatre came flooding back. I saw the first two in the theatre as well and loved them, but this one lost some of its edge and self-references.

I can't believe that I hadn't posted in this thread yet. I love the Scream movies! I did like the 3rd one. It wasn't as good as the 1st or 2nd, but I still really liked it. And, you're right about the eye candy thing for us, astral. I'll watch it over and over again just for Scott Foley wub.gif!

They were comparing the first Scream to the original Halloween, so why wouldn't they do it if they went with the 'kid' angle?

I will agree with you 70%, but there's still that nagging 30% that won't leave me alone and says that Weinstein will put this out. Such a dissapointment. Did they not see the open door at the end of SCREAM 3? Maybe that had a bootleg copy with that scene edited out.

I loved this movie. It was made after the friday the 13th and Halloween movies and it just made the phsyco killer just two regular people.
