Momma's Boy
So, looking over the Devil's Advocate Thread reminded me of an old debate I had between myself and some friends.

We went back and forth on who was the best Devil.

There are those who like Jack Nicholoson's Daryl Van Horn, because they just like the idea of 'You're Average Every Day Horny Little Devil', and of course how the Ladies deal with him. wink.gif

Then there are those who like the Falmboyant Devil potrayed by Al Pacino. From John Milton's (any else get a kick out of the name reference?) rant about how he's 'a Humanist!' To his cocky attitude about how he's '...an Enigma, Kevin. People don't see me coming.'

And of course there's Robert DeNiro's Louis Cyphre. Quiet and restrained, yet highly manipulative. (Not to mention his correcting Mickey Rourke for cursing in a church. wink.gif )

So Who's Ya Devil?

Personally, I've always had a special place in my heart for...well...Angel Heart. DeNiro just plays that 'slippery serpent' so well. To me that's how I've always envisioned the devil. The one who pulls the puppet strings, but never actually gets his hands dirty. The one who sits on the sidelines tempting you, but never makes a spectacle of himself.

Sure Pacino embodied the whole 'It's Better to Rule in Hell than Serve in Heaven' mentality, but to me DeNiro was more of Satan in the Desert tempting Jesus to take a sip of the water he had to offer. Or the serpent whispering into Eve's ear, 'Go ahead, take an apple...after all, who'd know?'

Urg- this was a tough call for me, but I went with Al, because...well, it's Al. And Al rules in any role at any time. But Jack in Witches of Eastwick was fun, but Al's version of the devil made me want the devil. I watched that movie thinking, "I'm doomed-- he seduced me, yep." cool.gif
SatanicHellcat
I would have to say Al Pacino. For me his character embodied everything that I see Satan to be. Not to mention that his speech at the end was awesome. I love it. I can't really say it any better than he just embodied what Satan really is in that movie.

I have to agree Al Pachino was very convinceing ohmy.gif

Good ol' Al....he's master a manipulation, and hes sneaky too.
micki_dallion
Al Pacino was my pick from Devil's Advocate. He's so charming and sexy! I am surprised that no one has picked Jack Nicholson from Witches of Eastwick yet. He would be my 2nd pick.
goremageddon
I have to go with Al on this.
deadnurse
Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate!!!!
Buhbuhraven
I voted for Al since Tom Cruise wasn't on the list (for his ruining of Katie Holmes for me)

LOL! I didn't put Tom on there, cause well you know Scientologist's don't believe in the Devil. Hmmm, maybe I should start a new thread, 'Who's Ya Grizgnac the Destructor?', so I can put Tom on the list? tongue.gif
NikkiWitch
I chose Al because he rocked that part. I loved the way he did his tongue like a snake throughout the movie.
xombie
AL JUST CAN'T BE BEAT
goremageddon
You fuck with him. You fuckin the best.

lmfao
Neo Sailor Cosmos
There is no better devil then Al! Then again, Mr. Pacino can convince you that he's anything, in anytime, and in any place!

Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the libidinous Darryl Van Horn in TWoE certainly displayed a rapier wit to it, when it came to his dealings with the trio of sorceresses that summoned him with their powers. It's just a thought that I wished to express. Thanks for your indulgence. MartinKandell September 25, 2008

I'm going to have to go with Al on this one, but Jacks a close second. And whose to say Al really isn't the devil. Think about his most memorable parts, Godfather suave italian mobster, Scarface coked up cuban thug, of course Devil's advocate, Any Given Sunday alcoholic hooker loving football coach, Scent of a Woman blind alcoholic hooker loving veteran, and the deal breaker Dick Tracy crime boss with the facial mole from hell. I rest my case.
