What movie makes you jump , what movie makes you check your closet when you go to bed, or what movie makes you just laugh hilariously at blood jetting from someone's neck

If I have to only say one, I always stick to my guns with Night of the Living Dead. It may not be the scariest, but it is my favorite.
Chuck
"The Thing From Another World" (1951)

LOVE watching it late at night with the lights off...

Azrael
John Carpenters The Thing still freaks me out but I love that movie! biggrin.gif
Annie
unsure.gif Well . . . . . . . so many to choose from. I'll say Halloween (the original) The musical score still shines after all these years.

Evil Dead 2

It's so hard to decide! I might have to go with either The Evil Dead or the original Dawn of the Dead. Suspiria's pretty damn high on my list too.
filthmaggot77
My all time favorite, hands down is the original "Dawn of the Dead"

But there are just so many more that I love just as much! Halloween(obviously), Return of the Living Dead, The Toxic Avenger, The Omen... I could go on and on
Deathboy
Alien.

I have blabbed on and on about this movie far too much on here.

What's your Greatest Horror Movie of all time!!

The Abominable Dr. Phibes and its follow-up film, both of which I've described previously, the cinematic adaptations of the EC Comics titles Tales from the Crypt and Vault of Horror, all of the Richard Matheson-scripted, Roger Corman-directed, and Vincent Price-featured adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's works that were made by American International, anything made by Hammer Films, the Omen Trilogy in its entirety, and many others which space and time prevent me from listing in their entirety within this reply, so bear with me in regard to this. It's simply a thought that I wished to express. Thanks for your indulgence. MartinKandell September 3, 2008

John Carpenter's Halloween for sure. I may be a bit biased since Carpenter is from my state of Kentucky though. happy.gif

But Child's Play scared the piss out of me when I was a kid. I had nightmares till my pre-teens because of that movie. I didn't see Halloween till I was in my teens, but it instantly became my favorite of all time.

Actually, according to IMDB, Carpenter's from New York, but went to school in Western Kentucky.

Yeah...I should have said raised but he does regard Bowling Green as his hometown.

BTW...the Bravo channel annually runs a special around the Halloween holiday and Jaws was #1 on their list out of a hundred horror films. But I'm not sure if that's a full out horror movie, but it does have scares.
Wonderland
The Silence of The Lambs.

JAWS. Most people don't think of this as horror but this movie ruined me for swimming, and I grew up near a freshwater lake! I dare you to go out in the ocean and not start hearing John Williams' theme in your head. Horror movie all the way...

Alien, Jaws, The Thing ('51) and so many others. The first three are really good and I still watch them when they come on tv. There are so many other to think about who can chose between them.
