I honestly have not seen alot, and own quite literally none, unless you consider Van Helsing. I was hoping you could give me some suggestions, divided into two categories. Which ones are must buys, and which ones I should just see. Thanks

An American Werewolf in London, which you should buy if you don't already own.

Like I said, the only remotely werewolf film I have is Van Helsing...

I totally agree with
An American Werewolf in London as a must buy. I would also nominate
Silver Bullet as a great addition to the collection. I really dig the Universal Classics, so the
Wolf Man Legacy Collection is a no-brainer for me, but that may not suit your tastes. A lesser known title that I enjoyed is
Night of the Werewolf with Paul Naschy, but I would rent it before buying it. While it isn't my favorite, you should check out
The Howling as well. Last, but not least, is
Dog Soldiers. It is worth a buy in my mind (and one that I need to add). Hope that helps.

Dog Soilders was kinda cheesy along with that silly snoop dog movie

Definitly American Warewolf in London and The Howling. American Warewolf in Paris was fun but totally different than the first and has more of a present day feel.
The Ginger Snaps trilogy is worth a watch but my fav of the 3 was Ginger Snaps Back.
Maybe a little off topic but Ravenous is an awsome movie on similar terms.

I totally forgot about Ginger Snaps, good addition and you can usually find them cheap.

So I need to get...
An American Werewolf in London
Silver Bullet
Wolfman Legacy set (which I've been meaning to get)
Night of the Werewolf
An American Werewolf in Paris
Dog Soldiers
Ginger Snaps trilogy
Anything else you can think of?

Work is so boring, I thought of two more I've seen and researched one I haven't.
I'm sure you've seen the Underworld's, although it is not primarily about warewolves.
Cursed ~ with Christina Ricci (it was alright)
Wolf ~ with Jack Nicholson 1994 (gotta love jack!)
Wolfen ~ 1981 (haven't seen it but looked interesting)

I hated Cursed. One of the worst movies I ever went to the theatre to see....

I don't think Cursed or Wolf are must haves. Both were pretty weak entries into the Werewolf genre in my opinion. It has been ages since I watched Wolfen, so I will have to reserve my opinion for now.

There aren't too many werewolf movies I like. My fav is An American Werewolf in London by FAR. The Howling is good, the original Wolf Man is too. I thought Dog Soldiers was good for a Sci-Fi movie, and Ginger Snaps was also decent... so yeah, pretty much everything that's already been mentioned. My only addition is Hammer's The Curse of the Werewolf. Directed by Terrence Fisher and starring Oliver Reed, the movie is one of my favorite Hammer productions.
I think we need more quality Werewolf movies! It's severely lacking compared to other big monsters in terms of excellent movies.

I am working on a screenplay for one as we speak. But as usual, I find myself needing to map out the story more. The opening sequence is all I have fully worked out scene for scene (and it is one of the best things I have ever done) but like all men, I lose interest quickly and go off to the next bright and shiny thing I see. It would also require a massive budget to make, and ILM would have to be involved. Don't get me wrong--It is much more of a "human" horror movie than a special effects extravaganza, but the werewolf scenes are epic and the things I visualize have never been seen before. There I go again, putting up road blocks on the street that bares my name.

These are old posts on the board, but if you really love werewolf movies, check out two on the D2D2 contest site. There was RED, which was really good. The guy made his own werewolf costume for crying out loud! How cool is that?! Then there's my little movie called SOUTHERN MOON.
