Directed by Zak Penn and starring Werner Herzog, this movie comes across as Blair Witch meets Spinal Tap. The premise is that Werner is doing a documentary about Loch Ness to look for Nessie, but then this annoying producer, played by Zak Penn, sets out to do his own movie alongside Werner. Trouble ensues and tempers flare. At times I wasn't sure if this really was a mockumentary because everyone is playing it so straight. Who would've thought that Werner Herzog was funny?! For a man who supposedly used a loaded gun to motivate actors, this guy has some great comedic timing. The movie starts off slow, give it about 10 minutes but then it takes off from there. It may not satisfy the gore hounds since there's zero blood, but come on, a movie with Herzog, a Playboy Playmate and Nessie just has to be seen. If there are other fans of this movie out there, let me hear from you. I'm dying to know what others think about this little gem that I found at the video store.
