I guess since 8 Films to Die For III is not until January, Sam Raimi's Ghost House Underground released eight horror movies just in time for Halloween. Here are the titles in case you haven't already bought or seen them:
Brotherhood of Blood
No Man's Land:Rise of Reeker
Room 205
Last House in the Woods
Dance of the Dead
Dark Floors
Trackman
The Substitute
Great titles, by the way. If anyone has seen any yet, I'd love to hear some reviews.

It is. According to IMDB it's a good sequel that isn't just a re-run of the first but more of an expansion of the original. Dance of the Dead seems to be the most popular one. It also has a great plot from the sound of it!

Dance of the Dead is definitely being recommended by some trusted zombie sources of mine as being a very good time and well written!
Sequel to The Reeker there is being touted as competent but really much like the first one so if you enjoyed Reeker this will probably fit the bill for that.

Why, Headcheese, I'm shocked that you haven't seen any of these movies yet! I do expect another of your excellent reviews on Dance of the Dead. It's on my Netflix list but it's been dubbed "long wait". It's probably on the way to your house, right?

I just received Dance of the Dead from Netflix this week. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I hear it's a lot of fun! Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

I could, but I think I'll save it for 'cheesy movie night' when my friends come over and we watch a few B grade horror movies and have fun talking during the movie without annoying theatre patrons. Good times, good times...

I watched Dark Floors last night. An overall okay flick...although it reminded me a bit of Silent Hill, the overall plot was different than Silent Hill but the visual aspects were sort of the same.
The plot revolves around an autistic girl named Sarah who is institutionalized for study and her father wants to move her out of the hospital. With his daughter and her monster drawings in hand, they make to the elevator with 4 other people and are instantly trapped. Then begins the descent into a nightmare...and Sarah has the only answer.
The movie featured the monster rock/metal band Lordi (which I've never heard of...till last night). I thought at times, the story lacked and was somewhat confusing in the end (unless somehow I fell asleep). The acting was good though. The special features on the DVD didn't have much but a 20 minute press conference with the cast and crew plus a short performance by Lordi and a short behind the scenes. Also, the special features had a couple of music videos with the band Lordi and I thought they were cool.
Other than that the film gets a 4.5 out of 10 from me.
I have Room 205 as well and plan on watching it in 10 minutes. Hopefully, with no time restraints I'll post a review later. Cheers guys!
-------------
I just watched Room 205 and I can say I'm impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. This IS the Danish horror film that has awesome in-your-face shock scenes which build and build till they explode. I actually jumped and squealed "Ahhhh!" many times during the scenes which are visually stimulating. The camera movements during those scenes are brilliant. The horror is sorta in the same fashion as The Ring or The Grudge, but I actually think this film is better than The Grudge...and right up there with The Ring (which I enjoyed).
It's about a female college student named Katrine who moves into a dormitory and enrolls in a university. Katrine as sweet and somewhat gullible as she befriends a group of friends and finds out they're intentions are not friendly...and they frighten her with an old myth of a former student who was electrocuted in Room 205. Yet without giving too much away...the old myth becomes a reality.
I have to say after going to the restroom after watching the film...I could not look into the mirror! I gotta give this film a 9.5 out of 10 because some of the action scenes were a bit long, but the shock made up for it.

Haha Dance of the Dead is dubbed long wait for me as well! I kind of don't want to watch it instantly cuz I want to see it on my big screen which is really how I prefer all my horror movies. I don't like viewing horror on my computer screen. Pluse I am going at these tentatively since some have good word of mouth but others have been dubbed stinkers. My main objective for movies last week was to get Stuck from Gordon on new release and Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer along with The Devil's Chair so I had them all at the top! Hence the long wait for Sam Raimi's Ghost House flicks now. The Devil's Chair, btw is from the same guy that made Broken which I absolutely adored so I was really looking for that new release. Hopefully I'll be getting some of these soon though but my guess people, for these movies, they will be on long waits this time of year for netflix until after halloween. At least the ones that are good. Rest assured if you receive one of these now and there wasn't a wait, it's probably not one of the better ones. lol

Have you watched Devil's Chair yet? Was it as good as you were hoping? I agree with you about watching horror movies on a widescreen tv, there's nothing better than a big picture and surround sound for a good horror movie!

Thanks guys! Hopefully you guys will check em out. But I'll admit though it doesn't take too much in a horror film to keep me interested. What works for some...don't work for others. I'm hearing good things about Dance of the Dead and No Man's Land: The Rise of Reeker.
I forgot to add that Room 205 is dubbed.
Hopefully, I can get The Strangers this week. I've been waiting all month for it.

Thanks for the heads up about the movie being dubbed. I will still watch it, but I hate dubbed movies. I would rather read the subtitles than listen to bad dubbing. I think you'll like The Strangers, it was a very brutal and disturbing movie, perfect for Halloween.

Jarhead I heard that there is also the Scandinavian language with subtitles options on the Room 205 disc. Don't quote me on it but it should be there so you don't have to do the dubbing. I won't watch it dubbed either, I would rather have the native language with subtitles as they are saying the dubbing loses quite a bit in the translation which is also possible with subtitles but not as much.
Yes I really liked The Devil's Chair but not nearly as much as I loved Broken but the feeling is different, The Devil's Chair is not so serious. It's got a touch of camp and (well I don't even know how to describe this) I'll say it like this, a touch of camp and like low budget Guy Ritchie for horror feeling. Sorry, does that make sense? It's definitely worth a view though and what I'm really waiting for from these guys is Blood River.

I tried to look for Broken on Netflix but they don't carry it for some odd reason. You sold me with the Guy Ritchie reference! I loved Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels. The kinetic energy of that movie reminded me of Sam Raimi in his prime.

Netflix definitely has broken, my review is on the first page for it. It only took like two years to get there and for people to see I had some sense. Most people didn't like Broken but it was pretty darned hellbent and tense. Anyhow, there are two Broken movies on netflix, it's the one from 2006. Here is the netflix link page right to the movie, I hope this works for you.
http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Broken/700760...d=885863629_1_0Simon Boyes and Adam Mason are the directors and they also did The Devil's Chair, which again I didn't like as much as Broken but they have a new one that has yet to be released which really looks like the bomb titled Blood River. Hopefully the link works because Broken is definitely a worthy horror film viewing experience, especially for the budget these guys have. I also enjoy their lead actress that they work with a lot, her name is Nadja Brand and she really put forth a strong performance in Broken without a lot of dialogue, she spoke volumes with her face.

Thanks to you, Headcheese, my Netflix list is growing out of control! Your link got me right to Broken. It's weird, I tried looking for it while at work and even though I typed it in, it never came up. But now it's at the top of my queue, along with The Devil's Chair. I'm going to have to search the darkest corners of Netflix and find something to recommend to you after all your referrals. Trouble is, you've seen everything!

I do prefer subtitles over dubbing. It does take a few minutes to get into the flow of reading while watching, but after time it doesn't even seem to be distracting. When I watch a dubbed movie I get fixated on the fact that the voices don't jive with the lips. That's more distracting to me than having to read.
I haven't seen "Inside" so I'm not sure about that one. Headcheese could probably inform you about it, or IMDB.

Brandon, I definitely prefer subtitles over dubbed but I do believe Inside is dubbed as well, I honestly don't know because I never looked when setting up the subtitles. I would think it would be but you really can lose a lot in dubbing but Brandon, for Inside it's not an issue. There's really not a lot of dialogue in that movie. In it's case a picture is worth a thousand words. lol
p.s. I have a review for Inside in the Critics Crypt.

I just watched Dance of the Dead. I absolutely loved it and never took my eyes off the screen. It was not only hilarious but very, very cool. The director Gregg Bishop is an awesome director. And after watching The Strangers this weekend, I needed a little dose of horror comedy.
The Strangers was the most terrifying realistic horror movie I've seen so far. God how that movie plays on sounds and imagination. And that my friends is what makes a true horror film. I cannot wait for the sequel (or prequel).
But I'm gonna let buhbuhraven write his review on Dance of the Dead.

Brandon, if you enjoyed The Strangers as much as you did, you should check out the french film Them with Olivia Bonamy, not sure I spelled that right. It's even better and more realistic but more importantly the sound design in Them is so superb and definitely one ups The Strangers in that department. Them came out before The Strangers and is based on a real case that occured in France but it is so very similar to The Strangers in plot and execution. I really do think you would dig it. It is a french film and since I watch with subtitles I can't say for sure whether it's dubbed or not but I would think that it is. Again though, like Inside, not much dialogue. Just tension from start to finish and it's a very fast watch because it's short. I have not heard better sound design in a film in such a long while that it is worth a view for that alone. Talk about letting your ears and mind do the work for them, this one capitalizes on that type of tension times ten. In Them, it's what you don't see and what you do hear that scares you. It's all about the not knowing.

Whoops! Had you already seen Hooper's Masters Dance of the Dead? If not, did you enjoy it somewhat? That one really got hit in review land pretty hard but I honestly liked it! It was a total sleazy, cheesey, Road Warriors type adaptation. Englund was pretty good, I thought, he entertained me at any rate. I also love the idea of dead dancers and cattle prods. Whoops! lmao

No, I hadn't seen it before. I did like it. I was really hoping for zombies at the prom, but it was good too. I'll just have to get the other version as soon as it becomes available.
