Once again Hollywood is taking a foreign movie that is great and remaking it for American audiences. (See The Ring, The Grudge, The Eye, etc.) I just found out that Matt Reeves, who directed Cloverfield, is slated to direct a remake of Let The Right One In and it'll be out in 2010. Why would you take such an amazing movie, that has fans singing it's praise, and morph it into some Hollywood crap that will no doubt have some annoying kids playing the leads? Is there nothing sacred? Let Hollywood take a cue from John Waters who said, "Let's stop remaking the good movies and remake the bad ones." I agree. Who else does?

Sorry but in my opinion, if you don't like remakes then don't watch them sad.gif

I personally don't like remakes but who cares...it's all about making money by remaking things American so they appear more attractive to the younger American crowd. If you make them, they will watch... rolleyes.gif

I for one have the original on my netflix list and am looking forward to it.

I agree with you, Azrael, it's all about money and marketing the movies to those who spend money...teens. I guess what made me so mad was the fact that Hollywood and other places are full of talented screenwriters who have fresh ideas but are not being heard. It's easier to remake a movie because the audience is already out there. It's hard for studios to gamble on undiscovered, raw talent. I just wish we could see new and interesting movies being released instead of stuff we've already seen.

Yeah, I can deal with the thinking that if you don't like something, then don't watch it, but this just pisses me off. This is a movie that they cannot remake. I think that they will find that out in the process. It's just not going to translate the same way. The setting will be off because it won't be early 80s Sweden, and the kids that they get will never live up to the brilliant performances of those in the original.
