I want to try out some horror movies I haven't seen.
I try to watch at LEAST one horror movie a night.
What movies should I get?
Any Zombie films, mostly?
Are there porcelain doll movies?
Silent films?
Please, I'm not picky.
Much thanks.
astralpictures
It's hard because we don't know what you have or haven't seen. Here are my favorite zombie movies:

1. Night of the Living Dead 1968
2. Dawn of the Dead 1978
3. Dellamorte Dellamore
4. Let Sleeping Corpses Lie
5. The Beyond
6. I Walked with a Zombie
7. Undead
8. Zombie
9. Re-animator
10. Return of the Living Dead

Some good silent films are: the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu, Der Golem, Haxan, The Phantom Chariot, Vampyr (almost silent), The Phantom of the Opera, The Student of Prague.

Personally, I recommend Dellamorte Dellamore, Let the Right One In, Session 9, Dead Birds, Spoorloos (The Vanishing original), and Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.

Great list, astral! I'm also going to add a few -
1. May - Haunting tale of a woman who just wants to be liked and have friends but whose only friend growing up was a doll (I think it's porcelain). It's a Frankensteinish story.
2. The Signal - Story told from 3 perspectives and with 3 directors. Each director puts their own signature on their portion, or act, of the film. It's basically about what happens to a town when a signal is broadcast that makes most of them ruthless killers.
3. Suspiria - Argento's finest in my opinion. Story of a young woman who goes to a ballet school where some strange things are happening.
4. Three Extremes - Asian horror at its best! 3 stories told by 3 different directors. Each reveal a unique story, but I love the one from Miike the most.
5. Them - This is the 2006 (I think that's the year) French film instead of the classic creature feature. It's about a couple who have mysterious invaders in their house in the middle of the night. They live in a remote location, so that adds to the creepiness and atmosphere.
6. 28 Days Later - One of my favorite zombie films even though some could argue that they're not really zombies. It's one of the few horror films that has managed to scare me. Oooh, and it's British!
7. Shaun of the Dead - More comedy than horror, but it's another one of my favorite zombie flicks. Another British film that's a wonderful spoof of zombie movies. You can never go wrong with Simon Pegg.
8. Dolls - I don't know if you've seen it, but I rather liked it. It's a late 80s horror film about people who stop at a house late one night. They quickly discover that the dolls that are there are alive. It's played on Chiller recently, I think.
9. Severance - More British horror. This one's about a company who goes on a retreat and ends up finding themselves under attack. It's one of my favorites from the last few years.
10. The Company of Wolves - I don't know how you feel about werewolf movies, but this one is amazing. It's a different take on the Little Red Riding Hood story - a very different take.

Back in the 90's there was this company called "full moon" they were a great production company that released alot of the B movie favorites (In my opinion of course), you might want to check them out, they are the geniuses behind such movies as:

Puppetmasters
Subspecies
Trancers
Demonic Toys
The dead hate the living
Gingerbread man

And more of course. I know that they are not all zombie like movies, but if you are in the mood for a classic their the way to go. My 2 cents..Added smile.gif

Dolls! wub.gif

Scared to Death-- Bella Lugosi, 1947, a corpse narrates the movie (hell yeah!). Try to get
the black and white version because the coloring sucks ass.

The Haunting-- the original only. The remake sucks the same as the the technicolored
Scared to Death.

I'll recommend some of the more recent independent zombie movies:

Trailer Park of Terror (2008) This is a really fun, fun and cool movie zombies/demons)
Fido (Recently made, fifties atmosphere w/Billy Connolly as a zombie, cute)
ZA: Zombies Anonymous aka Last Rites of the Dead
Dance of the Dead (An After Dark Horrorfest offering)
Undead or Alive
The Zombie Diaries 2006 (What Romero's Diary of the Dead should have been)
Hide and Creep
Dead Creatures (British zombie chic flick, a bit talky though)
Zombie Honeymoon I think 2005 maybe
Zombie Strippers (2008)
Severed: Forest of the Dead (Canadian film/pretty good!)
Night of the Comet (eighties and very cool and has been released)
Night of the Creeps if you can find it, also eighties
Bad Taste (Peter Jackson/eighties flick)
Dead Alive (Also Peter Jackson)
Also check out The Feast franchise (It's a really fun franchise)
I'll second Micki's recommendation for The Signal it's excellent!

Brilliant choice of movies, I especially liked vincent price when I was a kid, His laugh was enough to freak you out. It was great to see him on the screen before his passing again in "Edward scissorhands". I also like the original "House on haunted hill", "Return of the fly", and "Diary of a madman"..again my 2 cents smile.gif

And, I don't know if you're interested in any slashers, Wonderland, but I have forgotten to mention the wonderful Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It's shot documentary style, and it chronicles a man who aspires to be among the greats like Jason, Freddy, Michael, etc.

Yes Deaths Minion, Those are some of my Favorites too. I pretty much loved all Vincent Price movies. A few more are "Abominable Dr. Phibes" also "Dr. Phibes Rise's" Again & The Mad Magician. It would be great if Chiller had a Vincent Price Marathon some weekend!!!

Fabulous suggestions from Jarhead. I'd add Ravenous, Castle Freak, Severance, Black Sheep (more comedy) and Darkness (since you seem to like those evil kids) tongue.gif

As for dolls you could get Childs Play and Puppet Master. Haven't seen any zombie movies that weren't already mentioned but I do like 28 Days/ Weeks later.
