The entire Twin Peaks ending still makes me go WTF every time I see it.
Ghost
You know, i've NEVER seen Twin Peaks. I want to watch it but there's some sort of magical force Real Life that keeps me from watching when Chiller Airs it. I'm out of town, Bad weather or something. sad.gif

I hear season 2 comes out on dvd next week. And Season 1 is near impossible to find now grrrr. I may have to cheat and read Wikipedia to find out what Twin peaks is about and what happens.
LokiRising
Near the end of the Shining, they show the infamous "Dog Man." '
If you have read the books, this will make sense, but I still thought WTF?

The first scene that comes to my mind is the one from Twilight Zone: The Movie, where the thing on the wing does the "naughty-naughty you" finger-shake at John Lithgow. I definitely loved that, because it made me go WTF and laugh my butt off at the same time.

The ending to Sleepaway Camp was a total WTF??? moment.

The ending to the Crazies, where the government officials kill off the survivors left me scraching my head.

I just thought of another movie that had me going "WTF" from start to finish. It's not a horror film, but definitely a WTF film. It's called Memento. I thought it was just me, but after viewing the film, I logged onto IMDB.com to check out the boards, and there were tons of people going, "WTF?!?!?!?" That made me feel better. wink.gif

Hey, Word, by chance have you seen the reverse version of "Momento" that is an Easter Egg on disc two of the "Momento" special edition DVD? Where the whole movie plays back in it's "proper" front to back order?

Ghost
Jason Goes to Hell, the whole "Eating his heart" thing, totally WTF. Hey guys, if we keep this up we may create a new net fad.. the WTF Horror Club.
niknakpaddywack
Yeah, Sleepaway Camp sticks out for me. Halloween 4 really left me at WTF because I wanted to see more, then I felt better when they continued.

I've only done it once but it definitely adds an interesting wrinkle into how you view the film.

The only thing I REALLY don't like is that you can't fast forward or pause this version. Only pause and stop. Kinda odd. huh.gif

Okay my answer to the topic at hand...

The very end of "Carrie" definitely ranks way up at the top of my "Horror WTF?!? List". Definitely in the Top 5.

That shit scared me soo bad when I saw it on TV back in the very early 80's that it made scared to walk on the freakin' carpet for fear of that hand comin' to get me. biggrin.gif
reivax
The sequence in Evil Dead 2 when Ash's possessed hand is running around the cabin, flipping him off, and just giving him a hard time. What was funny about the scene was when he finally shoots his hand with the shotgun, but the wall spills blood at him and it like goes back in the wall, which I guess was kinda paradoxical. Somethin' tells me I'll have to watch the movie again.

Not me, Man. I was young and unprepared for such a sudden scare. For me, it was built to last. biggrin.gif Which reminds of me of another "fav WTF?" from back in my youth.

The absolute very last scene of "Phantasm". All I can say is: angry.gif "BOYYYY!!!" angry.gif
BillLoomis
"The Machinist"...the entire film...lol...wow, what a trip.

the popping up at the end scare. Friday the 13th ending got me the first time. The girls on the lake, here comes the cops, the feelgood music is playing, then *wham* Jason pops up and grabs her out of the boat.

HA HA HA! I hear that! Scariest part of the movie. That and the mother of course.
Ghost
The Shining, when the old psychic guy gets axe'd. They spend so much time on him trying to get to the house to save them, when he finally gets there.. BAM.

Original Night of the Living dead - death of Ben, i hate that scene, its a WTF moment of sadness sad.gif

Night of the Living Dead Remake - When Barbara just walks right past the zombies and escapes.

Open Water 2 - Since its a fairly new movie i won't spoil it, but if you've seen it you probably know a few WTF's that movie gave.
Vegas28
Mine would be "SAW" when the old guy stood up and told the photographer the key for his chain was in the tub, then slammed the door shut

Ha, the Basket Case 2 scene... when they're about to have sex.. "there's something you should know about me."

The ending to Videodrome and Eraserhead left me with a very wtf feeling.

And the first time I saw Dellamorte Dellamore at the end of the road, it took me a whole night to think about it and then repeat viewings. I love most wtf parts!

Okay, so, I was watching the Crying Game over at my friends house "the one with the crazy family" and none of them had never seen it before. So we are sitting there watching and the big wtf scene comes up my friend was like WTF! he did not see it coming and I do not know how he didnt, his brother father and mom all knew it was coming and they had never seen the film. ugh that scene scars me to this day, after the first time i have always made a note to close my eyes or look away.

I have a great "wtf" moment in a movie.
The movie is "After Midnight" and the ending of the movie is the "wtf" moment.
I won't tell what the ending is because I would hate to spoil it for anyone that might want to puchase it.
It is available on DVD.
This is an excellent horror movie and deserves to be played on Chiller.
I am going to add it to the witch list soon.
Magenta
And.....near the end of the movie "Freaks" was another "wtf' moment.
For those of you that have seen it, then you know what scene I am talking about.

Of course, this whole topic is full of spoilers by design, so be forewarned.

An American Werewolf in London, because it ended so suddenly with the Blue Moon song... I laughed so hard and watched that part like 20 times.

Halloween 4, where Jamie mirror Michael as a kid.

Evil Dead 2 - Ending up in Medieval times wasn't what I expected.

The Shining - he's just frozen solid, and then the camera tracks in on the photo. Oh, and the scene with the dog giving head to the dude.

Scream, because I didn't think it was two killers!

Yes, I can remember watching it in the theater, and I just sat there with a look of total shock on my face. I had it wrong the whole time!
Another moment that wasn't a huge WTF for me was in Shaun of the Dead. I was just pleasantly surprised at the end when Shaun went into the shed to play video games with Ed. I couldn't believe that they had kept Ed chained in there. But, that's a bit of commentary for society, I believe, and how we are like zombies with our games. Well, in that way, I will gladly be a zombie tongue.gif .

Yes, The Machinist and Memento are major wtf movies for me. I've had to watch them both a few times to really understand what's been going on.
What about the original Evil Dead? I can remember watching it the first time and just being shocked at the ending. They're playing this nice, happy music, everything in the woods looks peaceful, and you think that Ash has made it out alive. Of course, then, the deadites start coming for him as the camera moves through the cabin and into the woods. And, it ends on Ash screaming. I just couldn't believe it! The music that they play in the credits literally made me say wtf too. It's so upbeat and cheery.

Well come now, you couldn't have really expected her to survive? I mean if she had, the whole Sally Hardesty TCM story could never have happened.

Although seeing Jordana Brewster go out like that...made me sad. sad.gif

I think the original Director's Cut downer ending to AOD is awesome. I like both endings, but the slept too long one seemed like a better ending to the story as a whole, whereas the S-Mart ending fit AOD a little better. However, if they kept the original opening in as well(since it is directly related to the original ending) and other darker parts in the movie, the original ending would've made a lot more sense.

My sister actually had The Sixth Sense figured out from the beginning, but for me, it was a total WTF moment.
I had forgotten about Se7en's great ending! I just didn't think that they would do that to Gwyneth. What a shocker!
And, High Tension definitely had me saying WTF too. It had me on pins and needles for most of the movie, and then they had to throw that shocker right at me.
xombie
HIGH TENSION WTF GREAT MOVIE THOUGH VERY UNDERRATED
