Full Version: Countdown to Halloween
Chiller TV Boards > Movies > Horror Movies (general)

It's October and there's a chill in the air. Time to sit back, grab a beer and watch some horror movies and wait for Halloween. I wanted to hear from my Chiller community if they have any favorites that they like to watch this time of year. I'll start it off with a few of mine that I enjoy before Samhain:

HALLOWEEN- no brainer

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

SESSION 9

Buhbuhraven
Halloween 1 & 2

Friday the 13th

the Amityville Horror

Trick 'r Treat (You guys gotta get this movie coming out on DVD on Tuesday! It's right up there with Carpenter's Halloween as a new classic!)

Halloween 1-3 (Yes, that's 3)

The Shining

Drag Me To Hell

The Blair Witch Project (I'm one of the few who actually liked the film.)

Poltergeist

Evil Dead 1-2

The Mist

The Amityville Horror 1-2

...The list goes on and on...I'm having my own little 31 days of Halloween marathon...I'll add more later.

I really want to watch Session 9. I haven't seen it and don't know of any stores around my area with the DVD.

Great picks, Brandon. I too really like The Blair Witch Project. That ending in the basement still freaks me out!

I finally just finished my Friday the 13th marathon (minus the remake), which I try to do once a year. I also recently watched An American Werewolf in London, Return of the Living Dead, Dellamorte Dellamore, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974

Next up I will be watching:

Halloween marathon (again, minus remake)

Pumpkinhead

Jack-O

Psycho

The Haunting 1963

Carrie

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Romero's original Dead Trilogy

Scream 1 and 2

And hopefully some Universal and Hammer horror.

These movies are representative of Halloween for me the most, based on movies I used to catch this time of year when I was younger.

As for Session 9, watch out for it on cable. I know IFC plays it quite a bit, which is where I originally taped it from.
