I concur, the programming lineup sure could use some spicing up big time, the same old lame shows over and over again, I'm somewhat disappointed with Sleuth Channel at present. That will change if they would add the following shows:

Spenser For Hire
Barnaby Jones
Peter Gunn
Richard Diamond
Cannon
Mike Hammer
Kojak (both versions -Ving Rhames and Telly Savalas)
Dan August
The Streets of San Francisco
M Squad
Matrix
The Equalizer
MikeHammer
I've never been more adamant about one of these cable or satellite networks stepping up and providing something with substance and endearment.

There is absolutely no excuse for shows like "Cannon", "Barnaby Jones", "Spenser For Hire", & "Mike Hammer", all of which enjoyed successful long runs of at least 3-5 years on TV, to be off the air for any reason, & it's obvious that sorry networks like TV Land, Sleuth Channel and the Chiller Network don't provide the vast array of compelling entertainment in their format that is still sitting dormant in some vault somewhere decaying.

How in the world can you call yourself a 'Sleuth' channel without Peter Gunn and many of the others posted here as part of your programming?!

I guess when your station's controlled by one of the so-called "prime time" networks, maybe the handwriting's on the wall, surely they will not put programs on the Sleuth channel that will eclipse their awful shows on their "regular" network. A&E disappointed me as well, I thought they were going to stay the course, but once they established themselves by showing long, lost programs, they did a 360 and started showing garbage like 'Flip This House', 'King of Cars', "Growing Up Gotti", "Gene Simmons Family Jewels", & "Driving Force", just to name a few. Terrible, just terrible...

I wish I had the kind of money it would take to open and operate a classic TV station, I would be television's worst nightmare, and bury these pretender channels once and for all.

So much for diversity in "classic" television. Closing question for fellow posters here: Is there a way to directly contact Sleuth Channel/NBC Universal about their sorry, redundant programming?

Here's another vote for Spenser for Hire. And let's not forget Robert Urich's earlier sleuthing stint as Dan Tana in VEGA$

I agree. Totally forgot to add that to my list.

I would also like to see the Spenser movies (the ones with Urich and Brooks) shown too. I have them on dvd (Spenser For Hire: The Movie Collection, 4-disc, 4 movie set).

The movies shown on Sleuth do nothing for me. Undercover Brother? wacko.gif

Amen, Hammer! It's also distubing that these same shows and others can't be found on dvd! angry.gif I wish someone would (in the words of Mike Hammer) MAKE A NOTE OF IT!!
TXRN/PI
I am in total agreement. Magnum PI has been on Sleuth channel since the beginning of 2007 and here it is July and I have seen all the episodes more than once and have memorized them. There are so many more terrific episodes with Thomas Magnum to enjoy. I would also like to see the following shows come into the line up:

Spenser For Hire
Wiseguy
Crime Story
Mike Hammer
Remington Steele and
Mod Squad.

I'd watch Sleuth regularly, if they ran more classic series like these (even if they were consigned to the wee hours of the night or on weekends):

M SQUAD (1957-60, three seasons' worth of Lee Marvin as a tough-as-nails cop in the Joe Friday mold, fighting crime on the mean streets of Chicago; theme music by Count Basie; what true cop show fan wouldn't want to watch it? NBC/Universal owns it... Run it!!!)
DRAGNET (The black and white 1951-59 version... you know, the one that revolutionized the TV cop show for all time, which NBC/Universal owns, but never does anything with? Yeah, that one.)
T.H.E. CAT (1966-67, reformed cat burglar Robert Loggia uses his skills as a "second story man" to fight crime! A show I've always wanted to see!)
77 SUNSET STRIP (1958-64, GoodLife TV's loss is Sleuth's gain!)
HAWAIIAN EYE (1959-63, Ditto!)
SURFSIDE 6 (1960-62, Ditto!)
BOURBON STREET BEAT (1959-60, Ditto!)
DECOY (1957-58, Beverly Garland as the original undercover policewoman!)
THE UNTOUCHABLES (1959-63)
RICHARD DIAMOND, PRIVATE DETECTIVE (1957-60)
MIKE HAMMER (1958-59, with Darren McGavin)
THE LINEUP (1954-60)
PETER GUNN (1958-61)
HONEY WEST (1965-66)
CORONET BLUE (1967)
THE DETECTIVES (1959-62)
IT TAKES A THIEF (1968-70)
THE BLUE LIGHT (1966)
HARRY O (1973-76)

--that is to say, quality crime-stopping entertainment series that the other networks aren't airing (most haven't been run for ages), and most of them aren't available on quality, legit DVD (only bootlegs and/or crummy "public domain" releases). Right now, Sleuth has a largely "blah" schedule, filled with series that, as good as they are, have already gotten ample play in the last two decades, and are well-represented on DVD.

Surely there's room on your network for more than the 7 series you currently have in constant, numbing rotation? And why are you so stingy with the color 1966-70 version of DRAGNET?

Mannix would be a nice addition.

Wow. Mannix. I used to love that show. Wasn't his assistant's name Peggy? She was great.
samcrunchie
I would like to see Hunter and Wise Guy once in a while.]
buckylarue
Richard Diamond
Peter Gunn
Honey West

and a couple I haven't seen mentioned yet:
Burke's Law
Ellery Queen

Come on, bring us the classics!!!
Greg
Nero Wolfe is my favorite sleuth (not really a flatfoot). I had read all the books before I saw either the 1981 series with William Conrad or the 2001 series with Timothy Hutton. Predictably, I was disappointed with some of the characterizations, but they were both very well done and pretty faithful to Rex Stout's stories.
Tubaman-Z
Great suggestions - many of which I had forgotten about. I always liked Ellery Queen. Here are a few suggestions of my own (NBC shows listed first - I was surprised how many of them there are.)

McMillan and Wife (NBC!)
Columbo (NBC!)
McCloud (NBC!)
Quincy, ME (NBC!)
Police Woman (NBC!)
Police Story (NBC!)
Banacek (NBC!)
Adam 12 (NBC!)
Ironside (NBC!)
Moonlighting (ABC)
The Rookies (ABC)
SWAT (ABC. Another one for the Robert Urich fans)
Hawaii 5-0 (CBS. Trivia: The show ran for 12 seasons, from 1968 to 1980, making it the longest running crime show on American television until the police drama Law & Order surpassed it in 2003.)
Perry Mason (CBS)
Mission Impossible (CBS)
The Avengers (ITV - UK)
Danger Man/Secret Agent (ITV - UK)
Anything from the PBS Mystery! series (PBS)
Anything Sherlock Holmes related (the ultimate sleuth!)

Wow - the total list that people have generated is fantastic - now if only Sleuth would take some action on these suggestions.
